 1.  Visit a car museum

The Porsche Museum opened in 2009. It is dedicated to the history of cars – and of the Porsche brand in particular. There are about 80 vehicles to look at, as well as interactive displays.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum

The Mercedes-Benz Museum covers the history of the motor car, from its invention by Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz in 1886 to the present day. There are over 160 vehicles to look at. There is also an exhibition about the future of the motor car.

2. See the city from the top of a double-decker bus

15  euros for one route and 25 for two, buses leave from the Tourist Information Office – Königstraße 1a, 70173 Stuttgart, where you can also buy tickets

3.  Wander round the Markthalle

This huge indoor market was first opened in 1914. It’s packed with stalls selling all manner of food and drink. There are cafes, bars where you can have a bite to eat and restaurants if you want to have a full meal. You can take a look at local specialities.

4. See the city from the top of the Fernsehturm

This TV tower was the very first in the world. It was brought into service in 1956 and has broadcast TV and radio programmes ever since. It’s 217 metres tall and there is a viewing platform towards the top from where you can look out across the entire city and its surroundings.
