FC Nürnberg

Background

FC Nürnberg – also know as ‘Der Club’ – is one of Germany’s oldest and most venerable football clubs.
Founded in 1900, the club won its first title (the south German championship) in 1912, and its first national championship in 1920.  The long list of honours at the bottom of this page confirms their status as one of the top teams in the region and across the country in the early years of the 20th century.

Der Club were founder members of the Bundesliga in 1963 and won their first title in 1968.
However, they have become one of Germany’s so-called elevator clubs, moving up and down between the divisions. They came second in the 2 Bundesliga in 2017/18, gaining automatic promotion to the Bundesliga.
