There are flights to Leipzig/Halle Airport from Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heathrow, Manchester and Newcastle. You can then take a local train (S5) into the city centre.

There are also direct intercity train links to German cities, including Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
