Starting from Düsseldorf: Getting around
You have to buy tickets before you start your journey, but there are machines everywhere. Or you can get them at tourist information offices.
You can buy single tickets, or a ticket that gives you four single journeys – but if you are going to be doing a number of journeys on one day the simplest ticket to get is a day ticket.
How much you pay depends on how far you want to travel.
For 6.50 euros you can get a day ticket you can travel anywhere you want within Düsseldorf, as many times as you want , on any means of transport all day long.
If you want to go further afield you pay more depending on where you want to go.
If there is more than one of you, get a group day ticket, which works out even cheaper – so long as you travel together all day.
You need to make sure you stamp your ticket with the time and date you started your journey. Some tickets come ready-stamped – it will say on them “Ticket bereits entwertet”. If it doesn’t, all you need to do is put the ticket into the machine which you will see on buses and trams and on the way to underground and train platforms.
