Rot Weiß Oberhausen

Although founded in 1904,  Rot Weiß Oberhausen only came to prominence after the war, working its way through the divisions to achieve promotion to the Bundesliga in 1969.

Three years later the club began a downward slid and after a decade of bouncing up and down the divisions as well as ongoing financial problems 2 Bundesliga status was achieved in 1998.

Demotion in 2005 was followed by a further period of movement between the divisions.

The club now plays in Regionalliga West.

Despite all the turmoil and uncertainty of recent years Oberhausen has held on to a strong core support and had the third highest average attendance in the division last year (2648)
